This is what the sandstorm I mentioned in the camel posts looked like as it was coming from Sharjah and into Dubai. Buildings just fading into tan grey nothingness.

Dear Ahmed,
It seems you've never been to Dubai or haven't stayed there for long.
Because I'd been born here, did most of my schooling here and now am working in Dubai. What is pictured does happen - more often than anyone imagines - infact we had a similar experience just today - the previous one was about 10 days back which lasted for about 3 days.
Sandstorms are a reality most people don't talk about in Dubai - though it is at times mentioned in the newspapers (http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/08/08/10/10236009.html, http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/08/09/18/10245921.html, http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/09/01/02/10271909.html - these are only some of the news articles I could find - there are plenty more).
So Ahmed, I too like Dubai, but denying these dust storms are not the way of loving a place. They are part and parcel of that place. This is not something extraordinary for Dubai. I still remember plenty of instance when I was younger - of similar dust storms.
I hope you understand buddy - there ain't no perfect place in the world - we the people, strive to make wherever we are a better place.
GOD Bless!

I naver saw that previous comment, but yeah, what he said.
Also, I kind of enjoy sand storms. They have a certain severe beauty, and the ones in the Nevada desert are much worse in my experience.
